History

Cedar Park Church had its beginnings in September 1979 with 40 founding members who lived in the community but attended churches outside the community. They wanted a church home that would serve the needs of their families and others, inside their own community. To that end, this visionary group first met in local homes. They eventually held Sunday evening services at Tsawwassen Golf Course, then regular Sunday services at Holly Elementary and Delta Senior Secondary Schools before erecting their own building.

Construction began in 1987 when the mortgage for the Arthur Drive & 44th Avenue property, purchased in 1981, was completely paid off. The first worship service in the new building was held on June 12, 1988 with a congregation of approximately 75 men, women and children, under the leadership of Pastor Garry Prieb. Of the original 40 charter members, 11 are still active in the church.

Building of Cedar Park Church

Over the years on-going renovations to keep pace with the growing attendance included establishing, then enlarging, an upstairs Youth Room, converting the balcony into classrooms and office space, and enclosing corner space inside the auditorium for classrooms.

The 2007 renovation, involving the whole building, has increased the seating capacity of the auditorium to 450 and provided improved office and library space, a large modern kitchen, up-to-date nursery facilities and eight spacious classrooms. The inclusion of an elevator has made the second floor accessible to everyone.
