Worship Pastor, Roy Salmond

Hi, I'm Roy Salmond, the worship pastor here at Cedar Park.   Actually I see myself more as a worship facilitator, meaning my job is to help the congregants enter into worship, not just by singing a few songs on Sunday morning but in their day to day lives as well.

My job involves leading music on Sunday mornings, but there is so much more to worship than just showing up on Sunday morning. It's easy to lead people to their "happy place" in worship, which usually involves liking a song or it's got a good beat and you can dance to it. That's the easy part. The meaningful part, however is leading people to Jesus, and participating in His activeness in our lives, knowing that when we find Him, he's already found us.

I read once that "Bidden or not bidden, God is present". Whether you want to know Him or not, He wants to know you. You are important and not insignificant in His eyes. How that shows up in worship Sunday morning, is really about how and if you catch what is thrown to you. So if you're at our church on some random Sunday morning, you may enjoy the music—because it's got a good beat and you can dance to it—but there is so much more, thank God, so much more.
